The first step on the road to believing in Jesus is to hear his Word and believe it. Believing in Jesus encompasses the whole plan of redemption: first you have to believe that He exist, believe His Word, His incarnation, sinless life, death, burial and resurrection, ascension, intercession in our behalf, and soon coming kingdom. That is what belief in Jesus is all about. Belief in Jesus comes through studying and hearing the Word of God. The word "belief" or "believe" is an action word - as is recorded in Acts 16:31-33. First and foremost, you must study and hear the Word of God.

The Bible tells us about God and His will for us. Before studying, ask the Lord to give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding in the scriptures. Ask Him to give you His Holy Spirit to teach and guide you. He did it for Daniel, David, Apostles, and the His children of all generation, including me. He will do it for you also.
After you have accepted God's Word, the next step in the process to believing in Him is repentance.

When the prodigal son in the parable in Luke 15:11-24 came to himself. What did he do? CONVERSION AND BAPTISM
Hearing the Word of God, repentance, confession and baptism are all part of conversion or the new birth experience.
1. How did Jesus emphasize the necessity of conversion? Matthew 18:3; Fill in the blanks: And said, Verily I say ________ you, except ye be ________, and become as little children, ye shall not ________ the ________ of heaven.

Let us rewrite that in today's language: The wind blows where it wills or wishes, and we hear the sound of it, but we cannot tell where it came from, or to where it goes. So is everyone that is born of the spirit.
When one is converted, we see the effects of the Holy Spirit's power, but we cannot explain it.

9. What example did Jesus set concerning baptism? Matthew 3: 13-16 ____________
Jesus set three examples: (a) He set an example by being baptized. (b) The method of baptism - going down into the water. There is no example in the Bible of anyone being sprinkled with water as a form of baptism. (c) He also set an example in age. Baptism is for mature people, who could understand the conversion process. There is no example of infant baptism in the Bible. John's baptism was the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins (Mark 1:4). Jesus himself had no sins to confess and therefore needed no repentance; but in as much as the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all, it seemed suitable that He should be baptized as sinful men for whom He stood. Baptism is by immersion only. All the examples in the Bible are of people going down into the water and coming up (Matthew 3:13-16; Acts 8:36-39).
10. What was Peter's admonition to the people who came together at "Solomon's Porch?" Acts 3:19 first part________________________________________________

Matthew 28:19, 20 Fill in the blanks: Go ye ______, and _________ all __________, __________ them in the ________ of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to ___________ all ______ _________ I have ____________ you, and lo, I am with you ___________, even unto the end of the world.
In infinite love and mercy, God made Christ who knew no sin to be sin for us; so in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit, we sense our needs, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our sins and exercise faith in Jesus, as Lord and Christ, as substitute and example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, and adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the Lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified. The Spirit renews our mind, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. By baptism, we confess our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, become His people, and are received as members by His church. Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ, the forgiveness of our sins and our reception of the Holy Spirit. It is by immersion in water and is preceded by an affirmation of faith in Jesus and evidence of repentance of sins. It follows instruction in the Holy Scriptures and acceptance of its teachings.
